Cross Linking Archive Contents
Each archive contains different aspects of the Reed & Barton history. Harvard has business documents, catalogs, patents. RISD has design drawings. AAIM has images used in catalogs. OCHM and various other museums have actual objects. It is only by combining these resources that the true history of the objects, the company and the people involved come back to life today.
Object Lessons
Every manufactured object has countless stories to tell about the work and the people who were involved in its conception, design, manufacturing, distribution, and eventual use. Each of the images below links to examples of the rich information and many stories that are part of everything Reed and Barton produced.
The content of all of the archives overlaps. But the history of Reed & Barton is still far from complete; there are as many mysteries as there are answers. Here is some content that deserves more investigating to fill in the missing details and bring the stories more completely to life.
